Bristol Masons add £8K to Grateful Society Appeal
The BMBI, one of the Bristol Masonic Charities has added £8,000 to the Grateful Society’s appeal which is being led by 2021 president Allan Rosengren.
Allan, who himself has close ties with Masonry in Bristol, thanked the charity for their contribution citing that the donation has already been put to work.
The Grateful Society, founded in 1758, is a charity which supports elderly people across Bristol. While their support is primarily financial, they regularly engage with service providers to ensure maximum value for those they aim to help.
Thanking the BMBI, Allan said
“We thank the BMBI for the extremely generous donation of £8,000 towards the Grateful Society Appeal. At our recent dinner I reported that we raised a total of £107,400 and after hearing from some very high profile speakers, including Master of the Merchant Venturers, I was pleased to announce we have donated £5,000 to enable the Marmalade Trust, who speak movingly about the brilliant work they do for the elderly in Bristol, to provide a warm meal and some festive cheer on Christmas day to 170 lonely people in need. So, the donation from the BMBI is already on its way to supporting good causes in Bristol”
Tim Brunton, Honorary Secretary of the BMBI said
“With the pandemic, helping Bristol charities has never been more important to us as an institution. We support a wide range of local services with donations ranging from a few thousand, to tens of thousands, but in every case we know that the money our members help to raise is being used to its fullest potential”
